Welcome to my webquest.

           This webquest was designed for eighth grade students. It is aligned with the New York State Curriculum.

           Prior learning should include:

¨ Basic knowledge of: Percents, Sales Tax and  Gratuity

¨ Classroom discussion of deposits

¨ Classroom discussion of how tax rates differ by state

¨ Discuss different sales tax rate for hotels

¨ Review unit price

Upon completion of the webquest:

¨ Discuss how the number of people attending the trip will effect the price

¨ What other factors may effect the price

¨ Discuss how amusement parks model real life applications of Math, Science and economics

¨ Examples could include connections to Geometry (shapes that support roller coasters, graphing examples of slope, curves, minimums and maximums)

¨ Science examples could include force, motion, gravity and energy

¨ Economics could include admission pricing, profit/loss and what effect the economy has on the park

Have students present what they have learned about what is involved organizing a trip.
